Several West Virginia University musical groups will come together as the WVU Choral Area presents a concert celebrating the music of England at 3:15 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 28) in the Creative Arts Centers Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre.

The program,An English Perspective,will spotlight The University and The Womens choirs with guest organist William Haller of the WVU music faculty.

Other guests include the WVU Guitar Ensemble, organist Charles Ludwick II and dancers from the WVU Division of Theatre and Dance.

The concert will feature the choral music of Englands most famous composers. Excerpts from William Byrds masses, Henry Purcells perennial favoriteSound the Trumpet,John TavenersSong for Atheneand William MathiasLet All the Nations Praise Theeare among the sacred and secular music to be performed.

The WVU Guitar Ensemble will collaborate with The Womens Choir on madrigals from John Dowlands famous collections. Choral music from Benjamin Brittens operaGlorianawill come to life through the artistry of The University Choir and WVU dancers.

In addition, Haller will perform MathiasmonumentalInvocations.
