West Virginia University Extension Service is now offering the Heartsaver First Aid Course.

The course includes classes on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training.

Classes will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 3) in Grafton.

The course will also be available in Morgantown from 6-9 p.m., Oct. 22-23; 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12; and, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6.

Also in Morgantown, a CPR Instructor Course will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29; and, Healthcare Provider CPR courses will be from 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, and from 12:30-4 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10.

CPR is a potentially life-saving technique.

An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a portable automatic device used to restore normal heart rhythm to patients in cardiac arrest.

The classes are approved by the American Heart Association. Students will receive a course completion card good for two years.

Pre-registration is required. A one-time fee includes the cost of the course manual.
