A film on the life of Lucretia Mott, a pioneer activist for womens rights and other social justice causes, will be screened Thursday, Oct. 11, by West Virginia Universitys Eberly College of Arts and Sciences and Center for Womens Studies.

Lucretia Mott Take One Productionswill be shown from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Mountainlairs Shenandoah Room as part of WVU Student Lifes Multicultural Film Series.

Mott (1793-1880) was a Quaker minister who organized the first womens rights convention in the United States. She was also an outspoken advocate for peace, labor rights and the abolition of slavery. She helped lead the formation of the Philadelphia Female Anti-Slavery Society.

Dr. Barbara Howe, who directs WVU s Center for Womens Studies, will moderate a discussion that will follow the film. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

The screening is part of a series of events for the fall semester offered by the Center for Womens Studies. All activities are free and made possible by contributions to WVU s Womens Studies Program Development Fund.
