* WHAT :* Kickoff ofWE CAN ,or WVU Environmental Conservation Awareness Nowa special yearlong campus energy conservation awareness campaign. State officials plan to announce a special energy savings initiative as well. The WE CAN campaign includes a light bulb exchange calledChange a Light: Change the World.For every incandescent bulb someone brings in, it will be exchanged for an energy efficient CFL (compact fluorescent light); limit two per person. These require less electricity and last 10 times longer than a traditional bulb. All bulbs brought in will be recycled. WVU is partnering with Sylvania, a corporate leader in environmental sustainability, on the giveaway. WVU has a contract with the company to purchase the CFLs at a discount price and begin replacing traditional bulbs in campus facilities with energy efficient ones. TheWE CAN Ecolympics is also planned in WVU residence halls.

* WHY :* WE CAN is designed to enhance the environment as well as save the University money. The campaign takes the Universitys recycling efforts a step further by challenging building occupantsemployees and students aliketo recycle, conserve energy and purchase environmentally friendly products and materials.
