The Pinot Grigio Duo, featuring violinist Patricia van der Sloot and pianist Catherine Crotty, both artist faculty of the West Virginia University Community Music Program, will present a recital Saturday (Sept. 8) at the Creative Arts Center.
The concert�€which will begin at 7 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A)�€is free and open to the public. The program will include works by Beethoven, Debussy, Copland and Messiaen.
Patricia van der Sloot earned both her bachelors and masters degrees in violin performance at Eastman School of Music and spent 13 years playing and teaching music in Canada before moving to Morgantown in 2003.
She was a member of the Calgary Philharmonic and the Edmonton Symphony. She also performed and recorded for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) with various chamber orchestras and was a member of the Rococo String Quartet.
Catherine Crotty holds degrees in piano performance from WVU and the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.
For more than 20 years, she served as principal keyboardist with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. She has performed extensively as a chamber musician and accompanist.
