West Virginia University music professors John Weigand, clarinet, and James Miltenberger, piano, will present a free recital at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Creative Arts Center.

They will be joined by hornist Elizabeth Weigand.

The program will be in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A) and is open to the public.

John Weigand has trained with world-renowned artists such as Robert Marcellus, Fred Ormand and Lawrence McDonald.

His extensive chamber music experience includes concerts at the Blossom Festival at Town Hall in New York City and at Yale University. He has recorded for the Musical Heritage Society and has presented numerous solo concerts and clinics around the country.

Miltenberger has given numerous solo recitals in cities such as Chicago, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C. and at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York.

He toured Japan in 1985 as featured soloist with the WVU Percussion 80 and has toured Europe several times with the Miltenberger Jazz Quartet. He also has appeared on nationwide television on PBS and on the NBC Today Show.

Elizabeth Weigand is currently a senior music education major at WVU . She is a student of WVU horn professor Virginia Thompson and is also currently studying with Robert Lauver, hornist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

At WVU , she is a member of the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Chamber Winds and a brass quintet.
