The radio astronomy program in the West Virginia University Department of Physics in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences is hosting a lecture on multi-probe space exploration at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, in Room 259, Hodges Hall.

Professor David H. Atkinson from the University of Idaho Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will deliver the lecture,The Galileo and Cassini-Huygens Heritage: Multi-probes to Saturn.

The event is free and open to all WVU students, faculty and staff. Refreshments will be served at 2:15 p.m.

Atkinson will specifically discuss the success of the Galileo probe to Jupiter and the Huygens probe to Saturn, and the implication for a future Saturn multi-probe mission.

The possible Saturn mission is being considered by the United States and European planetary communities. It would complement the upcoming NASA

Juno mission to Jupiter and complete the initial survey of these gas giants.
