West Virginia Universitys Department of Public Safety is seeking information on an aggravated assault that occurred early Sunday morning (Aug. 26).

A male student was treated and released from the hospital after being injured in a fight involving several people near the front entrance to Summit Hall on Grant Avenue around 3 a.m.

Officers are investigating what prompted the fight.

Anyone who may have information is urged to call WVU Police at 293-COPS or 293-2677.

Meanwhile, University Police want to remind students and the community of the potential risks associated with resolving conflicts by violence. Those risks include criminal arrest and potential liability for injuries.
