A series of colloquia on international forestry will begin Friday, Aug. 24, at West Virginia University with a look atForestry Issues in the Philippines: Forestry Education, Forest Resources, and Forest Industryby Ramon Razal, dean of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of the PhilippinesLos Baos.

The presentation will be held at noon in room 335 Percival Hall on WVU s Evansdale Campus.

The colloquia series has been organized by WVU s Division of Forestry and Natural Resources, Office of International Programs and Extension Service, funded by a grant from International Science and Education Program of the USDA Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service. The purpose of the $98,000 grant is to revitalize an international sustainable forestry curriculum at WVU .

The second session will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 27, in room 320 Percival Hall. Survana Chandrappagari, director of the Andhra Pradesh Forest Academy in Hyperabad, India, will discussForestry Education and Outreach in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Future colloquia in the series will look at globalization trends and housing, forestry in Romania, and wood preservation and technology in Ghana.

Sessions are free and open to the public.
