West Virginia University President-elect Mike Garrison will participate in an open forum and rededication ceremony of Maclin Hall Tuesday, Aug. 21, at WVU Institute of Technology in Montgomery.

The brief ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at Maclin Hall, a residence hall that was built in 1938 and recently refurbished. The $7.2 million renovation project includes a new roof, elevator, heating/cooling system, fire alarm/sprinkler system, fitness room, furniture, flooring, lighting and ADA -approved entrancesplus complete rewiring, Internet access in studentsrooms, refurbished bathrooms, new study rooms, interior cosmetic upgrades and more.

The transition forum is set for 1 p.m. in the Engineering Auditorium. Dr. L. Christopher Plein, chair and associate professor of WVU s Division of Public Administration, will host the discussionGarrisons sixth in a series of campus conversations.

Weve been fortunate to have a smooth transition,the president-elect said,and one thing that weve done during the transition period is try and get around campusboth in Morgantown and throughout the stateand talk with the WVU family. I want to hear about all the good things that are happening and the challenges and make sure were tuned in here in Morgantown.

Garrison, who officially takes over as WVU president Sept. 1, said the turnout has been great at each of the forums and the discussions have been very positive. He invited WVU Tech faculty, staff, students and community members to join the conversation and voice their thoughts about the future of WVU .
