From laptop computers and software to digital projectors and other imaging systems, the latest information and instructional technology tools will be on display during the West Virginia Statewide Technology Conference 2007 Aug. 13-17 at the Charleston Civic Center.

A Technological Convergenceis the theme of the conference, which is expected toattract participants from state agencies, K-12 schools, higher education institutions and the general public.

This event is the only technology conference of its kind in the state,said Chet Cook, conference planning committee member and senior program administrator at West Virginia Universitys Office of Information Technology.It is the perfect setting to share, learn and enjoy the most advanced technology solutions with peers from all over West Virginia.

One of the highlights of the conference will be a presentation by Homer Hickam, best-selling author ofRocket Boys,at 1 p.m. Aug. 14 in the Little Theater. A book signing and reception will immediately follow.

Sessions will focus on blogging in the classroom, technological convergence, interactive video networks, distance learning, information technology careers, network security and more.

Other events will include a joint presentation by representatives from WVU s Information Security Program, Office of Information Technology and Web Services on Information Security, Services and Systems Promoting Awareness, Communication and Education (iS3pace).

A Google products demo, technology awards luncheon and panel discussionsalong with exhibits featuring more than 80 vendors and groups, including the WVU Office of Information Technology, WVU Cisco Academy Training Center, West Virginia Department of Education, SunGard Higher Education and Symantecare also planned.

The conference, now in its fourth year, has been very successful, and it continues to grow,Cook said.Participants can expect to see the latest technology and products available.
