The West Virginia University Department of Public Safety is asking the public for help in its investigation of a weekend strong-armed robbery.

Police say two students had a flat tire on their vehicle on College Avenue early Saturday (July 14) and were approached by five white males, all of whom appeared to be in their late teens. After helping push the vehicle onto Maiden Lane, one of the teens grabbed the purse of one of the students while another struck the other student. The teens then fled on foot. The students werent seriously hurt.

Police say one suspect had black hair and wore a black shirt; the other had blonde hair and wore a red shirt.

University police remind students to be alert to those around them, and if motorist assistance is needed, call WVU DPS at 293-3136 or use one of the numerous blue emergency phones on campus.

Anyone who may have information on the weekend robbery should call WVU Police at 293-COPS.
