Dr. Julian Bailes, chair of neurosurgery at West Virginia University, is scheduled to appear on ABC -TVsGood Morning AmericaSunday (July 1).He was interviewed this week via satellite for a story about random testing of high school athletes for steroid use.
I think random testing in high school is great and I applaud the states that have taken the bold action to make it happen,Bailes said.This can be a powerful deterrent to abuse of these dangerous substances.
Bailes is co-author of the bookWhen Winning Costs Too Much: Steroids, Supplements, and Scandal in Todays Sports World,and a consultant for the NFL Players Association on the lasting effects of head injuries.
