West Virginia University President-elect Michael S. Garrisons first official day on the job Monday (July 2) will start early and end late.

Garrison, who will become WVU s next president in September, plans to begin the transition with a full schedule of activities, meetings and personal visits.

Ill be doing a lot of listening and learning over the next two-and-a-half months, said Garrison.I want to make the most out of this transition period so Ill have a running start when I officially become president.

Garrisons itinerary for Monday includes a 6 a.m. workout at the Student Recreation Center, personal visits with WVU staff, meetings with two deans, a session with WVU President David C. Hardesty, Jr. and lunch with faculty members. He also plans to attend at least one summer session class.

I plan to be very visible during the transition,Garrison said.During this period, I want people to share their ideas and concerns with me as we chart a course for WVU s future success.

Garrison said he expects to announce members of his transition steering committee in the coming days, as well as information on a series of public forums where people can take part in the transition.
