C.B. Wilson, associate provost for academic personnel at West Virginia University, will conduct the Morgantown Municipal Band when it performs its Fourth of July concert at 11 a.m. Wednesday (July 4) at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Park amphitheater.

The free program is open to the public and part of the 2007Celebration of America.It will feature music by John Philip Sousa, Leroy Anderson, Leonard Bernstein, Percy Grainger and others.

This annual concert has become a favorite for many residents of the greater Morgantown community, and I always look forward to it,Wilson said.This years program will feature some old favorites and will appeal to all ages.

The concert series began in 1990. In keeping with tradition, Wilson will tie this years program together with a surprise theme.

Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and sun protection. Parking is available in the Municipal Parking Garage in the Wharf District.

The program is sponsored by WesBanco Bank and Dixon Hughes PLLC in coordination with the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners, Kleebs Music Center and the WVU College of Creative Arts. Funds for the performance are furnished in part by the Recording Industries Music Performance Trust Funds.

The Morgantown Municipal Band is an associate of Arts Monongahela.
