Bargain hunters and savvy shoppers looking for furniture, clothing and housewares will have no problems finding great deals on these and many more items during this Saturdays (May 19) West Virginia University Blue and Gold Mine Sale.

The event, to be held from 7 a.m. to noon at Milan Puskar Stadium, features items donated by WVU students to be sold in a giant, yard sale.

Proceeds from the sales and admissions will benefit the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties. The event has generated over $18,000 for the organization in the past two years.

Items to be sold this year include over 40 couches, four sets of washers and dryers, dinettes, rugs, sporting equipment, books, shoes, clothes and appliances ranging from coffer makers to vacuums.

WVU students who are asked to donate salvageable items they might normally throw or give away as they prepare to move or leave campus for the summer months. The items are collected by WVU s Facilities Management unit, taken to the stadium and sorted, priced and prepared for the sale by United Way volunteers.

Merchandise not sold during the stadium event will be donated to the Wadestown Community Resource Center.

Admission for the event between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. is $3, but after 8:30 a.m. admission is free.
