West Virginia Universitys Student Recreation Center is offering a Summer Membership Plan May 15 through August 15.

Under the plan, students currently enrolled for spring and enrolled for fallincluding incoming freshmen and transfer studentscan join as summer members.

Faculty, staff, adjuncts, retirees, Mountaineer Temps, spouses and dependents who have not joined as year-round members are also eligible for summer membership.

The cost for summer membership is $100 per person. Families in which the adults are members may enroll all of their dependents at a dependent discount for a total of $100. Dependents include all family dependents ages five to 25. Proper documentation (marriage certificates and birth certificates) are needed for family enrollment.

Students enrolled in summer classes are already eligible to use the Rec Center as part of their tuition and fees.

This provides an opportunity for students who live or work in Morgantown for the summer to continue their privileges at the Student Recreation Center, said David Weimer, program manager for membership, tours and scheduling. In addition, our faculty and staff can take advantage of extra leisure time with their families.

Those interested may sign up with Membership Services at the Rec Center from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday.

This is the second year the Summer Membership Plan has been available, said Dave Taylor, Rec Center director. Last year, 440 people signed up for summer memberships.

Along with a stunning 50-foot climbing wall with a simulated rock surface, the facility boasts weight and fitness equipment, courts for basketball, volleyball, squash and racquetball, a six-lane lap pool, plus a leisure pool and whirlpools, an elevated jogging and walking track and an outdoor recreation center for renting ski, camping and other equipment.
