Dr. Trenton Merricks, a University of Virginia philosopher known for his research in religion and metaphysics, will explore a key component of Christianity on Friday (April 13) at West Virginia University.

Merricks will discuss,Split Brains and the Godheadat 4 p.m. in Room 459 of the College of Business and Economics Building. An open discussion will follow the talk, which is a look at the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity.

His first book,Objects and Persons(Oxford: Clarendon Press, 2001), has been hailed by his fellow philosophers as one of the more original contributions to mereological nihilismwhich says some recognizable items like chairs and trees are a collection of particle systems, as opposed to simply being solid objects.

Merricks most recent book,Truth and Ontology, was just published last week by Clarendon Press.
