West Virginia University and Potomac State College students who have student loans and do not plan to return to the institution in the fall should be aware of a requirement to participate in exit loan counseling. The counseling ensures students understand the financial obligation associated with their student loans and is required to be completed by April 30.

Students graduating in the spring will be mailed a notification with directions for completing the process which includes completion of an on line form. The notices will be mailed the first week of April directly from WVU s loan service provider, Educational Computer Systems (ECSI).

Those students that are transferring to another institution, not returning to WVU or Potomac State, or dropping below half-time status should contact the WVU Office of Student Accounts at 304-293-4006 or osa@mail.wvu.edu to implement the exit counseling process.

Students that do not complete the process by the required deadline will have a hold put on their University records which prohibits them from obtaining transcripts or grades and from registering for classes at WVU .
