West Virginia Universitys Writing Center and Kristen Rigel from WVU s Intensive English Program will host a viewing and discussion ofWriting Across Borders,a short film about working with international students and their writing, on Monday, Feb. 26.

The viewing and discussion will be from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Creative Writing Center, room 44, Stansbury Hall.

The event is sponsored by the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of English.

Anyone who is teaching a writing intensive course is encouraged to come and discuss their successes and challenges with international students in the classroom.

Participants will discuss and try to answer some of the following questions:

  • How does culture play out in writing?
  • As teachers, how are we shaped by cultural preferences?
  • How do we evaluate international student writing alongside the writing of native speakers?

The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
