There still may be a winter chill in the air, but now is the time for students to plan for summer jobs and internships or careers after graduation, according to West Virginia University career services experts.
If you are looking for a summer job or the job that will begin your career, we have you covered, said Susan Jennings Lantz, associate director of WVU s Career Services Center (CSC).
The center is offering five ways for students to network and get a jump start on their job searchthe Summer Jobs Expo, Disney College Program, Big East Job Fair and e-Fair and Spring Jobs Expo.
This week, the CSC will transform the Mountainlair into a giant Summer Jobs Expo. More than 50 representatives from various industries, camps, retailers and public services will fill the commons area to recruit students for summer jobs and internships, Lantz said.
The fair will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. tomorrow and Thursday (Feb. 21-22). Among those scheduled to participate include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, West Virginia Governors Internship Program, Laurel Highlands River Tours, YMCA and WVU Energy Express.

Meanwhile, schools from the Big East Conference joined together to form the Big East Recruiting Consortium and will be staging two events in March.
The first of these, the Big East Career Fair, will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. March 9 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
During this event, employers from a variety of career fields will offer job and internship opportunities. Students and alumni with any major or degree from the 16 participating schools are eligible to attend, Lantz said.
Early online registration is best, she added, but walk-in registrations the day of the event will be accepted.
Students may make their own transportation and lodging arrangements or sign up to be on a waiting list for the CSC s $80 bus and two-night hotel package. Call 304-293-2221 for details.

The career fair will be followed up by the Big East e-Fair, an entirely Internet-based job fair, set to get under way March 19. This event allows thousands of students and alumni from Big East colleges and universities to search for permanent jobs, summer, co-op or internship positions through April 16.
Employers submit information about their organizations and hiring needs, while
candidates search for positions online and submit resumes directly to employers.
