West Virginia Universitys choral program will present Gabriel FauresRequiemat 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, in the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre in the Creative Arts Center.

The program will feature the University Choir, conducted by Kathleen Shannon. Special guests will be the Concert Choir of Slippery Rock University in Butler, Pa., conducted by WVU music alumnus Stephen Barr, and the Chancel Choir of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Uniontown, Pa., featuring current WVU doctoral student Jason Keefer, who is organist and choirmaster.

Other featured musicians include harpist Christine Mazza, violinist Elyse Brandt and hornists Marissa Ulmer, Kirsten Raschdorf, Matthew Jarosz and Patrick Richards.

Requiemis one of the most beloved compositions for choir, organ and orchestra, and conveys a mood of peaceful comfort to listeners, Shannon said.

The first half of the program will feature several important pieces by French composers Jean Langlais, Charles-Marie Widor and Camille Saint-Saens,the conductor said.
