Hundreds of West Virginia University students will go online this week and cast theirvotes for student body president and vice president.

Also up for grabs are 15 Student Government AssociationBoard of Governors (SGA BOG ) seats and two Athletic Council positions, according to SGA Elections Co-chair Patrick Brooks.

Two groups are running in this years SGA election, and with many of the candidates incumbents, it has been an especially spirited campaign season, he said.

TheComplete Choice Ticketis led by presidential candidate Tommy Napier, a junior political science and geography double major from Kenova, and vice presidential candidate Kelli Casto, a sophomore education major from Clarksburg.

Online voting begins at 7 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 20) and ends at 10:59 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 22). A link to the ballot will be provided on the Mountaineer Information Xpress, or MIX , Brooks said. The winners will be announced Thursday night.

After four years at WVU , it is wonderful to keep seeing diverse tickets with people from different states and campus groups,said Nathan Tucker, SGA elections co-chair.It is wonderful that WVU can be a place for students to foster a lifelong interest in participating in government.

Tommy NapierPresidential Candidate

  • Napier is a junior political science and geography double major from Kenova. He is a member of the Honors College and currently serves on the BOG and University Committee on Student Rights and Responsibilities. In addition, he has worked as a student assistant for New Student Orientation and done volunteer work in Spain and Thailand. During his BOG term, he has worked on outreach strategies by serving as the BOG /PR Team liaison, developing the current SGA motto and brochure as well as Student Speak Week. He has also focused on international student concerns, continuing the International Students Mentoring Program from the past SGA administration, and was appointed to the search committee for the new director of International Students and Scholars.

    Kelli CastoVice Presidential Candidate

  • Casto is a sophomore education major from Clarksburg. She is a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, Mountaineer Maniacs, Young Democrats, Italian American Organization, Safety Walk Audit Committee and Mountainlair Advisory Council. She has been involved with Mountaineer Week as craft fair co-chair, and she works at Student Organization Services, where she has helped organize the Homecoming parade along with the Students Helping Other People (SHOP) and Toy Mountain programs. As a current member of the BOG , she has worked on campus identity, compiling online directions for the Downtown, Evansdale and Health Sciences campuses to assist current and incoming students. To publicize this initiative, she designed a postcard that will be distributed during New Student Orientation.

    Larisha Campbell BOG Candidate

  • Campbell is a junior sociology major, who is minoring in English, from Inwood. She is active in the sociology, anthropology and criminology clubs. She serves as the president of the Black Student Union, which she helped found, and works at the Center for Black Culture. Campbell is running for the BOG to address everyday issues she is aware of that are not being worked on by the current board.One of her goals, if elected, would be to further diversify the WVU community by increasing communication and awareness of multicultural programs on campus.

    Kevisha A. Cunningham BOG Candidate

  • Cunningham is a sophomore exercise physiology major from Charleston. She participates in a handful of organizations, including the WVU African Dance Ensemble and WVU Boxing Club. If elected, she would focus on the Sophomore/Junior-Experience, a program geared for students transitioning from their first or second year of college, and increase the help and information available to students seeking jobs and internships.

  • Donato is a junior secondary education/social studies major from Fairmont. His activities have included serving as the alternate Mountaineer mascot and historian of the Italian American Organization. He has also been a member of the Mountaineer Maniacs, Student Education Association and Educational Student Government Association, and he was involved with intramural basketball. If tapped for the Athletic Council, he would focus on student attendance issues. Specifically, he would like to change the student online ticketing system of awarding seniority points and give upperclassmen a greater advantage. Additionally, he would like to work with the Mountaineer Maniacs to promote student attendance at nonrevenue sporting events, enhance intramural sports and ensure that seating in the student section at basketball games is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

    Michael DunhamAthletic Council Candidate

  • Dunham is a political science major from Hagerstown, Md. He is running for Athletic Council because he feels he can be a solid voice of the students concerning the athletic program. If elected, Dunham would work to get more recognition for intramural sports. He would also like to see the current first-come, first-serve policy for basketball game ticketing changed to an online ticketing system and look into replacing the scoreboard at the WVU Coliseum.

    Allie France BOG Candidate

  • Allie France is a freshman psychology major from Masontown. She is a member of the Mountainlair Advisory Board, Campus Crusade for Christ, College Republicans, Mountaineer Maniacs and Habitat for Humanity club. France is particularly interested in improving theLair, including the television lounge area next to Sbarro. After seeing the success of the Vandalia Lounge makeover, a project endorsed by the Student Government Association, she is confident in her plans to renovate the television lounge.

    Nelson France BOG Candidate

  • Nelson France is a sophomore political science major, who is minoring in leadership studies, from New York. He is the president of WVU Hillel and philanthropy chair of Sigma Alpha Mu. He is also an active member in the Mountaineer Maniacs, Habitat for Humanity and Young Democrats. Last summer, he studied in Bolivia, where he helped build classrooms and taught English to children. Frances main issue in the campaign is to improve accessibility on campus for students with physical disabilities. He would like to see a government increase in funding for the WVU Office of Disability Services. If elected, he would also promote the Universitys study abroad program and leadership studies minor.

    Adam C. Gibson BOG Candidate

  • Gibson is a senior public relations major, who is minoring in entrepreneurship, from West Palm Beach, Fla. He moved to West Virginia in high school. Since coming to WVU , hes been involved with the WVU Parking and Transportation Committee, Advisory Committee for Alcohol and Other Drugs, Morgantown Pedestrian Council, Young Morgantown Entrepreneurs Club and WVU Trademark Office, and he has served as a public relations intern at the West Virginia Small Business Development Center. If elected, Gibson aims to improve the Morgantown cab service and night time transportation issues.

    Emily Golomb BOG Candidate

  • Golomb is a sophomore business and economics major from Monroeville, Pa. As a member of the Alpha Phi sorority, she has served on the executive board as the Panhellenic delegate and represented the WVU chapter at the National Panhellenic Council. In addition, she participates in the Professional Business Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi. If selected for the BOG , Golomb would like to increase attendance at campus events by working with the Center for Civic Engagement and Student Organization Services to make sure everyone is aware of activities, meetings and groups at WVU . She would also like a portion of the Downtown Library Complex to remain open 24 hours a day during finals anddeadweeks.

    Darby Lentz BOG Candidate

  • Lentz is a freshman animal and veterinary sciences major, who is minoring in equine, from Wallace. She sits on the Lincoln Hall Council and is also a representative for the Residence Hall Association and Davis College Student Council. Her other activities include Block and Bridal, the Farm Bureau and Equestrian Team. Raising student awareness of the University farm would be one of her top priorities if she is elected. Lentz would also like to work on recycling publicity efforts and residence hall opportunities such as a recycling competition.

    Lizzy Margolin BOG Candidate

  • Margolin is a freshman public relations major from Charleston. She is the education chair of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and a member of the Student Health Advisory Board and WVU Honors College. She has volunteered with the SHOP program and was appointed to the Rec Center Advisory Board. If elected, Margolin hopes to increase wellness throughout the University by working with Student Recreation Center staff and wellness coordinators to expand programs and services, including theAsk the Expertonline program, introducing more exercise equipment at the residence halls.

    Sarah Perry BOG Candidate

  • Perry is a freshman public relations major, who is minoring in political science, from Morgantown. She is involved in Campus Crusade for Christ, Mountaineer Maniacs and the University Honors College Student Activities Committee. She plans to work with WVU officials to improve and update campus signs for University buildings as well as entry signs for the Downtown and Evansdale campuses. Perry also would like to ease the WVU Bookstoresbuy backsystem and create a brochure that explains the refund policy and provides information to simplify the textbook buying process.

    Erica Rogers BOG Candidate

  • Rogers is a sophomore political science major from Weirton. She has been involved with Habitat for Humanity for many years and is a member of the WVU Debate Team. She has helped with the SGA s annual Elite Landlord Survey and hopes to improve the off-campus housing search process. Specifically, Rogers would like to develop a system that categorizes and compares off-campus options that is easily accessible to all students.

    Conner Sorrells BOG Candidate

Sorrells is a freshman political science major from Charleston. At WVU , he has been involved with the SGA outreach committee, Habitat for Humanity and WVU Boxing Club. If elected, he plans to change the meal plan system to make it more flexible and user-friendly for students. Conner would like to study other universitiesmeal systems and incorporate new ideas into WVU s system.

James Staten BOG Candidate

  • Staten is a sophomore political science major from Williamson. His college activities range from serving as the public relations chair for the Italian American Organization to participating in the Mountaineer Maniacs and WVU club baseball. If elected, Staten would like to make the current Mountaineer Card, the Universitys student and employee ID card, a debit card that can be used anywhere, anytime and not limited to Mountie Bounty or Meals Plus.

    Kristen Thomaselli BOG Candidate

  • Thomaselli is a sophomore public relations major from New Cumberland. Besides being involved in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Public Relations Student Society of America, Italian American Organization and Institute for Human Dignity, she has been a mentor at the Morgantown Boys and Girls Club. If tapped for the BOG , she plans to continue working on the Photo Voice Program, a safety audit where students and faculty take pictures of different areas of campus to show positive and negative aspects concerning campus safety. Thomaselli also wants to get more people involved in the SGA .

    Brian Wright BOG Candidate

  • Wright is a junior political science major from Fairmont. He is a member of WVU Army ROTC , Army Running Club, WVU s Ranger Challenge Team and Scabbard and Blade, a national military honorary. If elected, he says he will focus on WVUp All Night, the Universitys weekend entertainment program, and better represent past and present military students at WVU . Wright also looks forward to working with the Veterans of WVU and ROTC units to improve their time at WVU .

  • Kirkpatrick is a senior finance major from Johnstown, Pa. He currently serves on the BOG and has been a resident assistant at Boreman Hall for three years and chaired the Resident Assistant Council. As a governor, he promoted student government through the First-Year Experience and residence hall programs. Kirkpatrick has been active in the College of Business and Economics along with the Finance Club, Mountaineer Maniacs, Institute for Human Dignity and Irish American Society. He also played a role in the creation of a simulated investment program.

    Jason ParsonsVice Presidential Candidate

  • Parsons is a sophomore political science major from Seth. As a member of the BOG , he has worked on the implementation of an online course syllabi database and online course evaluations. He also helped develop a University 101 course designed to get students involved in student government. Parsonsother activities include helping organize a voter registration drive for the November general election. He is a member of the Institute for Human Dignity, Honors College, Mountaineer Maniacs, Young Democrats and Hugh OBrian Youth Leadership Alumni Association. Furthermore, he has served as a resident assistant in Lyon Tower and been a member of the Multicultural Advisory Committee and Southern and Rural West Virginia Association.

    James Bailey BOG Candidate

  • Bailey is a sophomore public relations major from South Charleston. He currently serves as secretary for the BOG . His extracurricular activities include sitting on the Student Recreation Center and Mountainlair advisory boards, and he is an alumnus of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. If elected, he vows to work on issues concerning WVU s Personal Rapid Transit system, or PRT . Bailey hopes to extend operating hours to address convenience and safety concerns of students, and he would like to see benches installed at each station for waiting passengers.

    Sally Barth BOG Candidate

  • Barth is a junior public relations major from Charleston. She is a member of the Honors College, Mountaineer Maniacs and Public Relations Student Society of America. Additionally, she has held leadership rolesvice president of Panhellenic and senior Panhellenic delegatein the Delta Gamma sorority. If she is selected for the BOG , Barth plans to promote recycling on campus, including in the residence halls, and encourage area businesses to recycle. She would also like to help promote West Virginias Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan program on campus.

    Milisa Cutlip BOG Candidate

  • Cutlip is a junior psychology major from Paden City. She is a member of the Mountaineer Maniacs and resident assistant in Brooke Tower. She is running for re-election to continue her work on the Student Memorial Scholarship. This year, Cutlip led the effort to raise $1,800 for the Student Memorial Scholarship, nearly doubling the fund-raising goal. If re-elected, she plans to continue encouraging student organizations to use the Center for Civic Engagement as a resource for service-learning opportunities in the community and promote the annual Week of Engagement and Day of Engagement. Cutlip has served on the Childcare Task Force and promises to continue pushing for the development of a campus childcare center for student parents.

    Melanie Davis BOG Candidate

  • Davis is a junior nursing major from Morgantown. She currently serves on the BOG , co-chairs the SGA Community Service Committee and is a member of the Student Nurses Association, Mountaineer Maniacs, Mountainlair Advisory Board, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Mountaineer Week Committee. If re-elected to the BOG , Davis wants to work with the University administration to address student concerns about the WVU Bookstore Reserve Convenience Account and continue her work with community service days, bringing student government and other campus groups together to volunteer in the community.

    MikeEskoEskenas BOG Candidate

  • Eskenas is a junior accounting major from Marlboro, N.J. For the past two years, he has served as the treasurer of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He is also a member of the Beta Alpha Psi accounting fraternity and a representative on the Interfraternity Council, and he plans to be an intern at Grant Thornton LLP in New York this summer. If elected, Eskenas wants to establish a defensive driving course to help students curb car insurance costs while gaining three credit hours. He also plans to promote the interests of fraternities and try to increase recruitment numbers.

    Nic Hall BOG Candidate

  • Hall is a freshman criminology and investigations major from Towson, Md. He has served as his pledge class president in the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity, and he is a member of the Mountaineer Maniacs. If elected to the BOG , he plans to incorporate non-Greek student organizations more into Homecoming festivities. He would like for fraternities and sororities to be able to join with other student groups, while at the same time upholding traditions such as the Greek Games.

    Adam Lynch BOG Candidate

  • Lynch is a junior communications major from Mission Viejo, Calif., and a graduate of Robert C. Byrd High School in Clarksburg. Besides being a member of the Italian American Organization and Mountaineer Maniacs, he has served as the athletic officer and scholarship officer for the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and is currently serving as its external vice president. Lynch works as a senior sales executive at The Daily Athenaeum and was one of the managers for the WVU mens basketball team during its runs in theElite 8andSweet 16.If elected, he plans to improve the Mountainlair food court by adding a sit-down coffee shop.

  • McCulloch is a freshman biology major from Beckley. He is a member of the WVU Ski Team and Sigma Chi fraternity, where he served as pledge class president. If elected, he intends to work with Dining Services on expanding meal plan options, dining hours and dining hall renovations.

    Eric McDougleAthletic Council Candidate

  • McDougle is a sophomore exercise physiology major from Vienna, W.Va. He is a member of the Mountaineer Maniacs, Honors College and Pre-Dentistry Club, and he takes part in intramural sports. If elected to the Athletic Council, he has several goals: to increase student participation in and support of nonrevenue sports, promote club sports, improve fields and organize pep rallies similar to FanFest for high-profile basketball games.

    George Minwer BOG Candidate

  • Minwer is a junior pre-med student from Shadyside, Ohio. He is a transfer student from Wheeling Jesuit University and has served as a resident assistant at Pierpont Apartments and teaching assistant for University 101. He is involved in the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Minwer served overseas with the U.S. Army and currently serves in the West Virginia National Guard. If elected, he says he will focus his energies on getting more students involved in student government by creating a system in which each of the Universitys schools and colleges will have designated liaisons to gauge student concerns and provide feedback. He also plans be a voice for military students and continue SGA s involvement in programs such as Treats for Troops.

    Whitney Rae Peters BOG Candidate

  • Peters is sophomore public relations major from Madison, W.Va. She is running for re-election to continue her work with the Elite Landlord Survey as well as focus on an expansion of the Student Rec Center. She is a member of the Honors College, Public Relations Student Society of America, Campus Light, Mountainlair Advisory Board and Mountaineer Maniacs, and she is pledging the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

    Jared Ramsey BOG Candidate

  • Ramsey is a freshman finance major from Morgantown. He is a member of the Mountaineer Maniacs, Campus Crusade for Christ, SGA and Honors College. If tapped for the BOG , he plans to work with the Career Services Center staff to provide more opportunities for underclassmen to gain experience and internships in their respective fields.

    Leslie Saunders BOG Candidate

  • Saunders is a junior history major from Charleston. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key International Honor Fraternity, Pre-Legal Society and Phi Alpha Theta history club. She also serves as the director of scholarship for her sorority, Alpha Phi. If elected to the BOG , she would like to explore the possibility of extending hours for certain areas of the library with computer and Internet access readily availableand keeping the library open 24 hours a day during finals week.

    Aaron Stonebraker BOG Candidate

  • Stonebraker is a senior political science major from Fort Ashby. His current leadership roles include SGA executive secretary and vice president of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and he previously served as the president of the Institute for Human Dignity. Stonebraker has also been involved with the Phi Sigma Pi honor fraternity, Honors College and National Exemplary Scholars in Service. If elected, Stonebraker plans to establish a drop-box system in short-term parking lots, push for an increase in the amount of parking permits available to students and look into the possibility of parking spots with multiple permits for different times of the day.

    Cassie WernerAthletic Council Candidate

  • Werner is a sophomore political science and philosophy major from Clarksburg. She is a member of the Chi Omega sorority, Campus Crusade for Christ, Honors College, and SGA Dining Services Committee. She also chairs the Mountaineer Maniacs High School Spirit Competition. If selected for the BOG , Werner hopes to work with the Mountaineer Maniacs and other groups to create an organization for aspiring Mountaineer Maniacs. All proceeds would be donated to the WVU Childrens Hospital. Members of the organization would receiveperkssuch as an official club T-shirt, free food from local vendors and free passes into select WVU events. Werners other goals include increasing student attendance at nonrevenue sports.

    Morgan Wilt BOG Candidate

  • Wilt is a junior criminology major from Bellefontaine, Ohio. She is a member of the Mountaineer Maniacs and Criminology Club, and she serves as the registrar for the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and outreach director for the SGA . Her leadership positions have also included education chair for Kappa Kappa Gamma and wellness coordinator at Pierpont. Furthermore, she has been a member of the Sophomore/Junior Council, Resident Hall Association and Habitat for Humanity. Her priorities, if elected, would be to work with the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils to highlight the benefits of participating in the WVU Greek system and to establish an online database, where students and alumni could exchange information regarding jobs, internships and mentoring programs.

    Jason Zuccari BOG Candidate

  • Zuccari is a freshman communications major from McLean, Va. He is active in the SGA Bureau of Finance. If elected to the BOG , he would focus on pride and tradition at WVU , beginning with placing memorabilia prominently in the Mountainlair. He also wants to use student government asa vehicle to reinvigorate students with a sense of pride and wanting to give back to our University by getting involved in student government, student organizations and the community.Another goal would be to promote freshman interest groups in the residence halls.
