West Virginia University students still have time to apply for the 2007 McNair Scholars Program.

Applications are being accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis until all positions are filled, said Betty Mei, assistant director. Students interested in the summer internship program should submit an application to the program as soon as possible.

McNair Scholars participate in a six-week summer research project, work with a faculty mentor, and receive academic stipends and general assistance in applying for graduate school.

Applicants must be first-generation college students with a demonstrated financial need or members of groups that are underrepresented in graduate education.

In addition, they must be full-time students enrolled in a formal undergraduate degree program at WVU and have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0.

Faculty and students are being asked to encourage qualified students to apply. A downloadable application form and instructions are available atwww.wvu.edu/~mcnair(click onProspective Students).
