The national tour ofMan of La Manchawill make a special one-night appearance at the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center on Jan. 9. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

The winner of five Tony Awards including Best Musical,Man of La Manchanever fails to enchant audiences with its lyrical and musical mastery. The epic story of knight-errant Don Quixote, his servant Sancho and the woman of his dreams comes to life in this breathtaking new production.

Set in the time of the Spanish Inquisition, the tale tells of a knight who embarks on a romantic and noble journey to win the heart of a good woman and to captureThe Impossible Dream.

Based on Miguel de Cervantesclassic bookDon Quixote,Man of La Manchahas been deemed as one of the all-time great successes of American stage. Dale Wasserman wrote the stage play script and was quickly persuaded by his colleagues to rewrite it as a musical.

Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion provided the music and lyrics, and soon the show made a nearly six-year Broadway run. The musical received five Tony Awards with one each to the composer, lyricist, director and Richard Kiley, who played the leading role.
