West Virginia University jazz musicians will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre of the Creative Arts Center.
The concert will feature the WVU jazz programs many ensembles, including The Latin Jazz Ensemble, The Trio, Osteology, Les Six, The PM Trio, and Jazz Ensemble One and Jazz Ensemble Two. It will be directed by faculty members Paul Scea and Keith Jackson, along with students Adam Osmianski and David Longfellow. According to Scea, the concert will feature fifty different students studying music and jazz at WVU .
The program will includeSong of Bilbaoby Pat Metheny, performed by The PM Trio;Solarby Miles Davis andGreen Dolphin St.,by Kaper/Washington and arranged by WVU music student Colin Wood, both performed by the group Les Six.
Jazz Ensemble Two will performSong for My Fatherby Horace Silver and arranged by Tom Kubis,Sweet Sorrowby Mike Tomaro, andLove For Saleby Cole Porter, arranged by Pete Myers.
Other songs includeWaynes Thangby Kenny Garrett, performed by The Trio,Anthropologyby Charlie Parker, arranged by Fred Scott and performed by Osteology, andVoyageby Kenny Barron, arranged by WVU student Jim Morford and performed by The Latin Jazz Ensemble.
Jazz Ensemble One will performSoft Lights and Sweet Musicby Irving Berlin, arranged by Michael Abene;Jeruby Gerry Mulligan, arranged by Mike Tomaro; andThe Tholian Webby Gordon Goodwin.
