Members of West Virginia Universitys CyclingClub are taking their bikes from the mountain trails to the Mountainlair this week to raise money for breast cancer research and education.

Their annual Spinathon will be from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, and Thursday, Oct. 26, in theLair commons.

Donations will go to the Betty Puskar Breast Care Centeroffering the best available expertise, educational tools and technology aimed at the prevention and early detection of breast cancerand the Ann Nutt Memorial Foundation, in honor of one of the members mothers who recently died of another kind of cancer.

Between two and 10 cyclists will bike at a time, said Community Service Coordinator Wendy Click, and everyone who makes a donation will be eligible to be entered into a raffle with the drawing to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Its our way of giving back to the community, and we thought it was important because its National Breast Cancer Awareness Month,she said.The clubs goal is to raise $1,000.

Last February, the club raised that amount for WVU Childrens Hospital, Click noted.
