The boys of October are coming to U92 .

For the first time ever, West Virginia Universitys student radio station (WWVU-FM) will provide live coverage of the Mountaineer baseball teams Blue-Gold World Series Oct. 7-9.

Mountaineer Baseball on U92 has provided coverage of the WVU team for the last eight years, but the station has never before coveredFall Ball.

Were excited to extend our relationship with the baseball program through this addition to our coverage, said Kim Harrison, U92 s station director. We really feel that this coverage will complement our already stellar springtime baseball coverage.

The broadcast schedule is noon Saturday, Oct. 7; 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8; and 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9. Pregame coverage will begin about 15 minutes prior to the start of each game.

The Blue-Gold World Series is the culminating event of the baseball teams fall activities. The series is critical toward determining the makeup of the Mountaineer roster when spring rolls around.

We learn more about some of our players when we watch them play in this event, said WVU head baseball coach Greg Van Zant. The Blue-Gold World Series helps us decide who makes the team and who will be awarded starting positions for the spring.

Last season,Mountaineer Baseball on U92 followed the Mountaineers all the way to the Big East tournament. U92 will continue this coverage once the regular season begins in the spring.

U92 offers a variety of programming, and its broadcast signal can be heard as far away as Cumberland, Md. It can also be heard on the Internet atu92.wvu.edu.
