Christopher Sperandio, a graduate of the West Virginia University Division of Art whose work is known throughout the world, will present a visiting artist lecture at the Creative Arts Center, Friday, Sept. 29, at 5 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A). The event is free and open to the public.

Sperandio, a native of Kingwood, W.Va., received a bachelor of fine arts degree in printmaking from WVU in 1987 and a master of fine arts degree in painting from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 1991. He is best known for his collaborative work with British artist Simon Grennan that explores the numerous margins between mass media and museum cultures.

In 2006, Sperandio created and produced ARTSTAR , an eight-hour reality television series based in the New York art world, airing this year on the Dish Network. He has also created numerous projects for museums in the United States, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and the Seattle Art Museum. In addition, his collaborative works with Grennan have been seen in Scotland, Wales, France, Denmark and England.
