WVU alums donning their blue and gold and supporters of Uniontowns State Theatre are expected to turn out in full force at this years Annual Chili Cook-off and Mountain Harvest Festival. The popular event will be held Sunday, Sept. 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Christian W. Klay Winery in Chalk Hill, Pa.

A $5 donation at the gate will benefit the West Virginia University College of Creative Arts and the State Theatre in Uniontown.

We invite supporters of the arts, Mountaineer fans and chili lovers to come to the winery for a magnificent fall afternoon,said winery owner Sharon Klay.We are planning great entertainment, food vendors and craft vendors. All the effort goes to support two very worthy causes: the WVU College of Creative Arts and the State Theatre.

Entertainment starts at 11:30 a.m. with DJ Fred Adams, followed by the WVU Steel Band (11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.); DJ Fred Adams (12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.); and a jazz group from the WVU College of Creative Arts.

The day always attracts local WVU supporters and this year will be no exception.

According to College of Creative Arts Dean Bernie Schultz, particular effort will be made this year to try to reach the WVU alumni community.

Enjoy a beautiful fall day with additional performances provided by the College of Creative Arts musical ensembles, along with other WVU surprises,he said.What a great way to share an enjoyable experience while supporting the arts at the State Theatre and West Virginia University.

Marty Schiff, executive director of the State Theatre, also asks that those who support the arts in Fayette County come to the winery for this event.
