A West Virginia University professor known for his outreach work on campus and in the community has been honored for that effort by the school where he earned his doctorate.
Dr. Mohamad Alkadry recently received theDistinguished Alumnusaward from Florida Atlantic University. Hes an associate professor of public administration in WVU s Eberly College of Arts and Sciences.
Alkrady earlier this year helped organize a series of dialogues between the Islamic Center of Morgantown and the citys Tree of Life Synagogue.Anti-Semitism to Islamaphobia: A Dialogue on Common ConcernsandMuslim and Jewish Common Ground: Continuing the Dialoguewere among the topics discussed in that series coordinated by the WVU NOVA Institute.
He has also worked extensively with other causes in the region, including with the African American and Non-African American Stroke Awareness Project; the Harrison County Comprehensive Needs Assessment; the Homeless Census in Monongalia and Marion Counties; and the City of Westover Comprehensive Plan Visioning.
He has also served as the coordinator of the W.Va. Local Government Leadership Academy.
Alkrady also helped establish the Department of Health and Human ResourcesBehavioral Health and Health Facilities Planning and Data Analysis Project; Pay Inequity in West Virginia State Administration; West Virginia Legal Aid Community Needs Assessment; and Consolidated Public Retirement Board Customer Satisfaction and Improvement Study.
He earned bachelors degrees from Canadas Carleton University in Ottawa and the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. His masters is from Concordia University in Montreal and his doctorate is from Florida Atlantic.
Alkrady has authored numerous academic publications and government reports in public administration and specializes in bureaucratic behavior and public involvement in the policy making process.
