An award-winning author will read from his works at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in the Gold Ballroom of the West Virginia University Mountainlair.

The reading by Anthony Grooms is free and open to the public. The WVU Department of English is sponsoring the event.

Grooms is the author ofIce Poems,a collection of poetry;Trouble No More,a book of stories; and a novel,Bombingham.His stories and poems have appeared in Callaloo, African American Review, Crab Orchard Review, George Washington Review and other literary journals.

He is a two-time recipient of the Lillian Smith Prize for Fiction, was awarded the Sokolov Scholarship from the Bread Loaf WritersConference, received an Arts Administration Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and was a fiction finalist for the Hurston-Wright Legacy Award.
