West Virginia University is preparing to crown a new king and queen.

Applications for the 2006 Homecoming court are available in the Student Organization Services office in the Mountainlair. The court will be selected based on leadership, activities, campus involvement and an essay.

Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students on WVU s Morgantown campus, have completed 89 credit hours and have a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade-point average. Former WVU Homecoming candidates are ineligible.

A $5 application fee is payable with a check or money order made out to West Virginia University and is due with the application by 4:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, in the Student Organization Services office.

Online voting will take place Tuesday, Oct. 3, through Thursday, Oct. 5, via the MIX (Mountaineer Information XPress) atwww.mix.wvu.edu. Winners will be announced during halftime of the WVU -Syracuse game on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Parade set for Oct. 13

This years Homecoming parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the intersection of Spruce and Willey streets; line-up is set for 5 p.m.

The procession will travel south on Spruce Street, turn west onto Walnut Street and then south onto High Street, ending at the bottom of High.

Applications are available in the Student Organization Services office. The deadline is Friday, Oct. 6. There is a $50 entry fee. (Note: Applications will be accepted after the deadline, but a $10 late fee will apply.) WVU student groups and nonprofit organizations are free.
