Hundreds of alumni and friends of West Virginia University will gather at the Erickson Alumni Center for the WVU Alumni Associations Marmaduke Dent Society Benefit Dinner Friday, Sept. 1.

The 12thPleasures of the Palatewill feature NelsonChipBell, executive chef for the West Virginia Governors Mansion. Chef Bell will prepare a four-course fare for a sold-out crowd of nearly 200 guests. Bell, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute of New York, has been with Governor and Mrs. Joe Manchin III since 2005.

We are pleased to welcome Chip Bell to Morgantown as our guest chef,said Stephen L. Douglas, president and chief executive officer of the WVU Alumni Association.The Marmaduke Dent dinner always features talented chefs from all over the country, and we are certainly looking forward to a wonderful menu that has been created for the evening.

The event also will feature wines selected with special attention to the menu and donated by Kathryn Folio, president of North Central Distributors, Inc. of Clarksburg. John H. Brown, Jr. and Judge Andrew MacQueen, both of Charleston, will introduce the wines and provide commentary.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Marmaduke Dent Society. The Dent Society, founded in 1993 by former WVU Alumni Association president and Morgantown resident Vaughn L. Kiger, recognizes the thoughtful generosity of those loyal benefactors of the WVU Alumni Association who provide financial support for alumni programming, activities and facilities.

The WVU Alumni Association, chartered in 1873, represents more than 165,000 University graduates residing in every county in West Virginia, every state in the union and approximately 60 foreign nations. With nearly 100 registered chapters and constituent groups, the Associations 26,000 dues-paying members support Homecoming Weekend, the WVU Academy of Distinguished Alumni, Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund, Student Alumni Association, and dozens of other social and philanthropic programs.
