Starting Monday, July 31, motorists are urged to avoid or use caution when driving on University Avenue between the Business and Economics Building and Oglebay Hall on West Virginia Universitys Downtown Campus.

From Monday through Aug. 21, construction crews will be working in the area as part of the Downtown Campus infrastructure improvement project. The work involves extending chilled water piping and electrical lines to Oglebay.

The work will likely cause University Avenue to be reduced to one lane during the day, with temporary stop lights installed to reduce the traffic flow, according to officials.

Besides the infrastructure upgrade, Oglebay Hall is undergoing a major renovation and addition project. The renovated structure will house WVU s popular forensic and investigative science program and the 15,000-square-foot addition will include large lecture halls and feature a rooftop parking lot. The two structures will be attached by a pedestrian bridge from the parking lot to the second floor of Oglebay.

The $20.7 million project is scheduled to be completed in May 2007.
