Lee Maynard and Irene McKinney, two West Virginia University Vandalia Press authors, will be participating in the 29th annual West Virginia Writers Conference June 9-11 at Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley. Vandalia Press is the creative imprint of the WVU Press.

Both Maynard and McKinney will be reading from their works and conducting workshops during the conference.

Maynard, a WVU alumnus, is the author of two Press publications, �€?Crum�€? and �€?Screaming with the Cannibals�€?.

Author Terry McMillan compared Maynard’s writing to �€?an Appalachian �€~Catcher in the Rye’that would make a helluva movie.�€?

The Vandalia Press launched �€?Crum�€? as its first fiction in 2001, and it’s been the Press’s best-selling title for five years.

McKinney , West Virginia’s poet laureate, is author of the Press title �€?Vivid Companion�€?her fifth published collection. The book is a set of poems reflecting the human spirit.

The �€?Kenyon Review�€? said that �€?Irene McKinney writes with a strong soul, a great ear, and a commanding vista.�€?

All three titles will be available for sale at the conference.
