Users of Mountaineer Information Xpress, or MIX , can look forward to a new Web portal system scheduled to come online in mid-July.
The new version of MIX will offer features and enhancements that were not available in the previous version, such as automatic inclusion of WVU news and calendar listings, improvements to e-mail functionality, and improved performance and reliability.
Data from some features, such as e-mail, groups, message boards, and chats, will not be migrated to the new version of MIX . No current MIX mail will be migrated during the upgrade this summer to the new version of MIX . For instructions on saving data, MIX users should carefully review the notices they receive in their MIX accounts regarding the upgrade and read the MIX upgrade information athttp://www.wvu.edu/~mix/.
In addition, course tools such as chats, message boards and links to e-mail the instructor will not be available in MIX for summer courses. These tools will instead be offered through VISTA , WVU ’s Web-based course management tool.
All users were sent an e-mail announcement of the upgrade last week; more notices will follow with additional information and instructions.
The MIX upgrade is a collaborative project between the Office of Information Technology, Student Systems Development, VISTA Support and Web Services. Additional information about the upgrade is available athttp://www.wvu.edu/~mix/.
