Today’s soldiers returning from war zones can take off their uniformsbut they can’t shrug the emotions that forever change them by being in combat.

The implications of war on the spouses and children and America’s fighting men and women will be discussed Thursday (April 20) at West Virginia University .America at War: Part IIwill be from 7-9 p.m. in 248 Hodges Hall, on the Downtown Campus.

Sponsored by WVU ’s Nova Institute and School of Applied Social Sciences , Thursday’s discussion includes a brief presentation by military veteran Jeremy Harrison, who fought in Iraq and is now a full-time therapist at the Vet Center in Morgantown .

Veterans and their spouses, children, parents and friends are invited to join in the dialogue, said Dolly Ford, Nova’s project director.

The institute offers education and training opportunities to nonprofit groups and other human services organizations. It’s housed in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, along with the social sciences school.
