With industries facing rising energy costs, IOF -WV, the WVU Industrial Assessment Center and the Industrial Gas Utilization Center are offering a workshop for companies to address their natural gas use through theSave Energy Now Programsponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Reducing Natural Gas Costs in Industrywill be held Tuesday, April 11, in Room 101 A&B at the National Research Center for Coal and Energy (NRCCE), WVU Evansdale Campus.

The workshop will introduce manufacturing plant personnel to various ways to reduce natural gas consumption in their facilities. Basics of energy analysis, diagnostics, assessment and conservation in manufacturing facilities will be addressed.

Bhaskaran Gopalakrishnan, director, WVU Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) and Wafik Iskander, assistant director, will conduct the workshop. The lead IAC students and others will also be present.

Gopalakrishnan, professor in the Industrial and Management Systems Engineering department at WVU , has led over 150 industrial assessments. He has directed projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, U.S. Department of Agriculture and PPG Industries, WV.

Iskander has led over 50 industrial assessments, and has worked on projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, West Virginia Department of Transportation, West Virginia Division of Highways, West Virginia Department of Energy, the Navy and private industries. He is professor and chair of the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering at WVU .

IOF -WV is a joint program of the West Virginia Development Office and the West Virginia University National Research Center for Coal and Energy (NRCCE).

The workshop is free of charge.
