Nearly 200 Girl Scouts from Morgantown and Charleston will be at West Virginia University on Saturday, March 25. And they won’t be selling cookies.

The WVU College of Engineering and Mineral Resource’s annual Girl Scouts Math and Science Day will take place from 9 a.m to noon at the Engineering Sciences Building .

WVU students will help Junior Girl Scouts, who are middle-school age, complete three science- and math-related merit badgesScience in Action, Science Discovery and Discovering Technologythrough hands-on activities and experiments.

Brownies, the youngest group of Girl Scouts, will complete badges in Art in 3-D, Science Discovery and Discovering Technology.

The event is sponsored by the WVU chapter of the Society for Women Engineers (SWE).

We enjoy working with these girls every year,said Tirzah Mills, SWE president and a chemical engineering junior at WVU ,and encouraging their curiosity about math and science through this day of activities.
