Violist Nicole Brockmann, a member of the West Virginia University music faculty, will present a recital Tuesday, March 7, at the Creative Arts Center.

Brockmann will be joined by pianists Christine Kefferstan and Kyle Linscheid. The free concert begins at 8:15 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall.

The program includesRomance Oublieeby Franz Liszt;Suite in G Minor for Unaccompanied Viola, Op. 131, No. 1by Max Reger; four movements fromSechs Phantasiestcke, Op. 117by Robert Fuchs; andSonata for Viola and Piano, Op. 147by Dmitri Shostakovich.

Brockmann enjoys a multifaceted career of performance, teaching and scholarship. She specializes in chamber music but has considerable solo and orchestral experience as well. She received her bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and her master’s and doctoral degrees from Yale.

She is president of the Dalcroze Society of America , an educational organization made up of musicians, dancers, actors, therapists and artist-educators who study and promote the Dalcroze Eurhythmics approach to music learning through rhythmic movement, aural training and improvisation.

She is a frequent contributor to the American Dalcroze Journal and has given Eurhythmics workshops at Yale, Carnegie Mellon, the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Duquesne University, and at regional and national conferences.

Prior to coming to WVU , Brockmann served on the faculties of Yale University and Norwalk Community College in Connecticut .
