Take some of the most talented college students in the region. Add synchronized chanting, stomping and clapping. Mix in a whole lot of heart and soul, and you’ve got the StompFest at West Virginia University.
Presented by the WVU Alpha Omega Omega co-ed multicultural fraternity, or AOO , the StompFest competition is from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, March 4, in the Mountainlair ballrooms; doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The show will feature step performances by nationally recognized Sigma Lambda Gamma sorority and other multicultural Greek organizations from New Jersey to Pennsylvania.
Comedian Roslane Gholstonbetter known asLady Roz G,from Black Entertainment Television’sComic Viewand Comedy Central’s upcoming Laffapalooza festivalwill serve as master of ceremonies and entertain the crowd with one of her stand-up routines.
AOO was founded by four WVU undergraduate students in fall 2003. The fraternity stresses diversity, teamwork, leadership and individuality.
StompFest 2006 will set the tone for the upcoming spring and will be filled with a little bit of everything, from performances and comedy to great music,said Rodney Williams, national AOO president.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $5 at the door; advance tickets are available for purchase in the Mountainlair commons area through Friday.
