As part of National Collegiate Health and Wellness Week (March 6-9), the WVU Student Recreation Center is hosting the area’s largesthip hopclass at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, in the three-court gym.

Other events during the week include a modified triathlon,try climbingat the climbing wall and kayak roll sessions, among other activities.

Our goal at the Rec Center is getting people involved in healthy lifestyles,said Sherri Restauri, program manager.The events we have planned for the week offer that opportunity.

The week springs into action Monday withFree Daybeginning at 6 a.m. University employees and their family members can use the Rec Center for free that day with valid employee ID.

The Wellness Week Information/Service Fair, the day’s main event, will take place from 4-7 p.m. in the free zone near the entrance of the facility. Free glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and spinal screenings, chair massages, body fat compositions, reflexology demonstrations, acupuncture and a soft skin analysis from the American Cancer Society are available to all who stop by.

Information booths staffed by the Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services, the School of Dentistry , the School of Nursing and the WVU Student Dietetic Association are also available Monday. Healthy food samples will also be offered by WVU Dining Services and Gordon Foods.

Monday’s other activities include a blood drive from 1-7 p.m. in the four-court gym and aerobics classes.
