Outstanding string musicians from high schools in West Virginia and surrounding states are taking part in West Virginia University’s annual High School Honor Orchestra through Saturday, Feb. 18.

The students will present a concert at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Creative Arts Center’s Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre. Directed by WVU Symphony Orchestra conductor Harvey Felder, the concert is free and open to the public.

Students in grades nine through 12 are nominated by music teachers and band directors at their schools in West Virginia and surrounding states to attend WVU High School Honor Orchestra.

During two days at WVU , they attend rehearsals and clinics with WVU string faculty members, perform with the WVU Symphony Orchestra wind section players, and attend concerts.
