Three West Virginia University musical groups will presentLaudate!a concert of psalm settings and part songsSunday, Feb. 12, at 3:15 p.m. in the Creative Arts Center’s Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre.

The program will feature the University Choir and the Women’s Choir, along with special guests the WVU Wind Symphony.

Conductors include faculty members Kathleen Shannon and John Hendricks III , along with students Jennifer McCarthy, Debi Beachy, Keith McCarthy, Christopher Nichter and Adam Leatherman.

The WVU Wind Symphony will join the University Choir in a performance of Igor Stravinsky’sSymphony of Psalms,a stirring and tuneful setting of selected psalm texts. Originally composed on commission for the 50th anniversary of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, this work for choir and expanded brass and woodwind sections also features harp, two pianos, cellos and basses.

Hendricks, who is director of bands at WVU , conducts the WVU Wind Symphony.

The Women’s Choir, conducted by Jennifer McCarthy, will be performing a varied program of music for women’s voices. Their featured work isThe Rose Trilogy,a set of three pieces by contemporary Canadian composer Eleanor Daley.

The University Choir will present an excerpt from Leonard Bernstein’sMass,plus music by C.V. Stanford and Greg Knauf. Shannon , Beachy, Nichter and Keith McCarthy will conduct.
