West Virginia University student John Skeen’s exhibition of abstract paintings will open at Zenclay gallery in Morgantown Sunday, Jan. 15.
Skeen, who is studying piano and composition at WVU in addition to art, will present a piano recital at 3 p.m. It will be followed by the opening reception. Both events are free and open to the public.
Skeen is interested in finding the common ground between music, haiku and abstract painting. He produces short piano compositions linked to a series of real experiences or psychological impressions that are also given form by ink on paper.
He will be introducing his paintings with his own piano compositions. He has also recorded the music so that visitors may go into the gallery with a set of headphones and repeat the concert while viewing the paintings.
Zenclay is located at 2862 University Ave. in the Evansdale area.
