Kanawha County state Senator Brooks McCabe will speak onRegionalization and Governance in the 21st Centuryat 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the Gold Ballroom of the West Virginia University Mountainlair.

The lecture is sponsored by the Universitys Extension Service, Institute for Public Affairs and Division of Public Administration.

The Governors Commission on Governance in the 21st Century completed its work and issued its recommendations in 2004. Senator McCabe, who served as chair of the group, will focus his presentation on those recommendations.

McCabe, who represents the Charleston area, is a leading advocate of legislation that promotes regionalization of government units and factions. He supports merging municipal and county governments, improving the efficiency and the economic operations of local governments and providing better services for West Virginians.
