Bragging rights are on the line for West Virginia University, but this time, its not for a BCS bid or a trip to the Sweet 16.

West Virginia University cheerleader Lara Benninger, of Clarksburg, is a finalist in the Athlon Sports Sideline Spirit Contest. The senior exercise physiology major qualified by winning the second round with nearly 89,000 online votes.

Benninger is competing against cheerleaders from the University of Kentucky; Virginia Tech; and Auburn, Indiana, Texas Tech and Arizona State universities.

Fans can vote once every 24 hours atwww.athlonsports.com/spirit/round.phpthrough Jan. 5, the day after the Rose Bowl.

If Benninger wins, she will receive $2,000 for the WVU cheerleading program, prizes from Samsung and a photo shoot for the Athlon Sports 2006 Football Annual.

WVU s Andrea Bianchi won the contest last year.
