For many notable figures, Bob Bennett is the obvious choice for big, controversial cases,Wright said. His presence in a case indicates to the court, and the other side, that they will face the most prepared, diligent and ethical team a client can retain.

Bennett most recently represented Miller, the NYT reporter who was jailed for refusing to name a source in the outing of CIA operative Valerie Wilson.

After Bennett negotiated a waiver from that source, Miller was released and testified before the grand jury. That testimony, in part, served as the basis for the recent indictment of top White House aide I. LewisScooterLibby.

President Bill Clinton also retained Bennett during the Paula Jones civil lawsuit, and former Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger called on Bennetts counsel during the Iran-Contra investigation.

Bennett is a former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia and was a special counsel to the U.S. Senates Select Committee on Ethics.

He holds degrees from Georgetown University, the Georgetown Law Center and Harvard Law School.
