The Center for Identification Technology Research (CITeR), located at West Virginia University, will be hosting its bi-annual meeting Nov. 9-10 at Lakeview Resort in Morgantown.

CITeR is the only National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center in the growing area of Biometric Identification Technology.

Researchers will present their projects at the conference for membership approval.

CITeR, through its membership, is dedicated to advancing the performance of biometric systems through cross-cutting research of new enabling technologies, interdisciplinary training of scientists and engineers through biometric research and the facilitation of transfer of new biometrics technology to the private and government sectors.

Other universities in CITeR include Clarkson, Michigan State, University of Pittsburgh and St. Lawrence University. Center members include Digimarc, the FBI , the National Security Agency, Transportation Security Administration, DoD Fusion Center, and the US Special Operation Command (USSOCOM).

WVU professors Larry Hornak and Bojan Cukic serve as the co-directors of CITeR. LaRue Williams, director of program development in the WVU Research Office, is the associate director of the Biometric Knowledge Center of CITeR.
